2020 Ram 1500 vs 2020 Toyota Tundra

Finding the right pickup truck can be a really tiresome and stressful task when there are so many options to sort through. Here at Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we would never want you to feel discouraged in the pursuit of your dream vehicle. That is exactly why we created this comparison review! We have taken two of the most popular full-size pickup trucks on the market and we are comparing all that they have to offer from the engine options to the standard features and everything in between to help you determine which model best suits the needs of your busy lifestyle. This time around, we have the 2020 Ram 1500 and the 2020 Toyota Tundra. Keep reading down below to see how these models breakdown and which one we recommend!

2020 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

There are three engines in charge of powering the 2020 Ram 1500 lineup. The standard engine, a beloved Pentastar, is a 3.6 L V6 that produces up to 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Ram boosts this engine's torque production when necessary with the addition of a mild-hybrid eTorque system. Drivers can also choose a 5.7 L V8 that cranks out 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Ram offers two versions of this V8 engine, one outfitted with the eTorque system and one without. The last engine is a 3.0 L EcoDiesel V6 that pumps out 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. Ram pairs all engines with an automatic 8-speed transmission and rear-wheel drive as standard. A four-wheel-drive configuration is available for all trims except the Rebel where it comes standard.

2020 Toyota Tundra Power & Handling

There is just one engine powering the entire Toyota Tundra lineup. This 5.7 L V8 engine produces up to 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. The standard transmission match is a 6-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard while four-wheel drive is available.

2020 Ram 1500 Features & Design

In the 2020 model year, drivers can choose between six Ram 1500 trim levels. The base model, called the Tradesman, comes outfitted with a host of standard features including second-row in-floor storage, a 5-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, six-speaker sound system, keyless entry and ignition, and trailer sway damping. The upper trims, like the Big Horn, Laramie and Laramie Longhorn, come with side steps, smartphone integration for Apple and Android models, fog lights, 18-inch aluminum wheels, an 8.4" or 12" fully-configurable touchscreen, a power rear window, and more. The Rebel trim is ready for off-roading with LED headlights, a fully dampened tailgate, 33-inch Wrangler DuraTrac tires, four skid plates, and an electronic locking rear axle.

2020 Toyota Tundra Features & Design

There are also six Toyota Tundra models to choose from in the 2020 model year. The base model is named the SR and it comes with cloth upholstery, smartphone integration, manual front seats, a six-speaker sound system, a sliding rear window, 16-inch steel wheels, and a few driver assistance features. The upper trim levels add to the SR with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a wireless smartphone charging pad, chrome exterior elements, heated mirrors, low-profile tires, LED headlights, and more. The Tundra boasts a few TRD models that are outfitted for off-roading as well.

Conclusion:

We have taken a good look at what both of these trucks have to offer and we have to extend our condolences to the Toyota Tundra. While it did put up a good fight, it really just can't compete with the Ram 1500's three capable engine options and stellar features throughout the six trim levels. A 12-inch touchscreen? What is better than that? When you are ready to come on down to the dealership and get your hands on a 2020 Ram 1500 our sales associates will be waiting for you!
