2020 RAM 1500 Power & Handling

Most models of the RAM 1500 provide consumers with the option of a quad cab with a long bed or a crew cab with a long or short bed. As for the engine, most trims come with a tried-and-true 3.6-liter V6 that pumps out 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The engine comes with an eTorque system that shuts down the engine in situations that it would otherwise idol, thus improving gas mileage. Optional on lower trims, and standard on the Laramie, Long Horn, and Limited trims, is a 5.7-liter V8 that provides 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The eTorque is optional for this engine. The RAM 1500 also has the option for a diesel engine with 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, which is available on most trims. Rear-wheel-drive is standard, but four-wheel-drive is an option. Each engine comes with a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission. The RAM 1500 can tow up to an impressive 12,560 pounds.

2020 Ford F-150 Power & Handling

There are a few serviceable engines for the Ford F-150. The base is a 3.3-liter V6, which provides a respectable 290 horsepower and only 265 lb-ft of torque. Fortunately, all other engines improve on torque. The first option is a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 with 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Next up is a 3.5-liter turbo V6 with 470 lb-ft of torque, which is available for the Limited and Raptor trims. Last but not least, is the diesel V6 engine, which provides 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. All engines connect to a shiftable six-speed automatic transmission, which is smooth but feels a tad old. The Ford F-150 can tow up to a respectable 8,000 pounds, which is far less than the RAM. You also don't get the eTorque with the Ford F-150, so it gets fewer miles to the gallon.
