Two of the top performers that we'll be talking about are the 2019 Jeep Cherokee and the 2019 Toyota RAV4. First up is the Cherokee. In 2019, this vehicle has received a new exterior look, an upgrade to the infotainment system, and a brand new engine option! On the flip side, the 2019 RAV4 has been completely redesigned. It now includes more cargo space, and easy-to-use controls. But which one is truly better? 2019 Jeep Cherokee Power & Handling

Jeep keeps finding ways to make their vehicles feel fresh and exciting, and in 2019, the Cherokee is being offered with a new engine option! The standard engine that always impresses is the 2.4-liter 4-cylinder. This engine can produce around 171 lb-ft of torque and 180 hp. Front-wheel or all-wheel drive is available, depending on your preference. Another engine you can choose from is a 3.2-liter V6, which can kick out up to 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. The last engine is the brand new turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4. This option allows you to get up to 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The standard transmission for every engine is a nine-speed automatic, which shifts smoothly.

2019 Toyota RAV4 Power & Handling

There is only one engine available with the 2019 Toyota RAV4. The standard engine is a 2.5-liter inline-4. This engine can pump out around 184 pound-feet of torque, and up to 204 horsepower. Connected to this engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission. As far as the drivetrain is concerned, you can get either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Although the power isn't that bad, the lack of a true engine lineup is disappointing. For anyone that does want more power, the options simply are not there.

2019 Jeep Cherokee Features & Design

On the design and feature end of things, the Cherokee offers five main trim levels. The base model, Latitude, comes with features like Bluetooth, height-adjustable front seats, a six-speaker audio system, a folding front passenger seat, automatic xenon headlights, a 7-inch touchscreen interface, 60/40-split folding rear seatback, heated side mirrors, a USB port, and even Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. For something more towards the middle of the lineup, you might consider Latitude Plus. This trim includes satellite radio, a power-adjustable driver's seat, push-button start, keyless ignition and entry, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, two extra USB ports, and upholstery with leather inserts. The highest trim, Overland, adds unique body-colored exterior trim, a leather-wrapped instrument panel, ventilated front seats, a navigation system, and sound-deadening windshield and front windows.

2019 Toyota RAV4 Features & Design

Five trim levels are also available with the RAV4. Standard features with the base trim LE include Bluetooth, rear privacy glass, adaptive cruise control, LED headlights, Apple CarPlay, a 6-speaker sound system, low-profile roof rails, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, a rearview camera, and LED headlights. Another trim, XLE, adds dual-zone automatic climate control, blind-spot monitoring, extending sun visors, automatic LED headlights, upgraded interior trim, heated mirrors, and four additional USB ports. The highest trim, Limited, includes a Toyota navigation system, chrome exterior trim, an auto-dimming mirror, driver seat memory functions, and an 8-inch touchscreen. It's important to note that Android Auto is not available with Toyota vehicles.

Conclusions

The winner is clear! The 2019 Jeep Cherokee has managed to perfectly combine power with luxury, and even off-roading capabilities! While the RAV4 put up a fight, it couldn't compare to what Jeep has put into the Cherokee.
