Fuel economy is no problem for the Cherokee, as the base engine will be getting you around 22 mpg city and 31 mpg highway when you pair it with front-wheel drive.

The Escape has its own engine lineup that falls flat when it comes to power. The first engine is a 2.5-liter inline-4, which can generate 170 pound-feet of torque and 168 horsepower. This engine only comes in front-wheel drive. Another available engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-4, which creates 177 pound-feet of torque and 179 horsepower. The most powerful available engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4, which can pump out 275 pound-feet of torque and 245 horsepower. These two engines can come in front-wheel or all-wheel drive. A six-speed automatic transmission is paired with all of the available engines.
